The Dawn Initiative is a concert project dedicated to the oneness of humanity. It is initiated by a team of individuals based in the Greater Toronto Area, who have been inspired by The Báb and Baha’u’llah’s vision. In the nineteenth century, The Báb and Baha’u’llah shared a common vision for the world that was radical at their time in Persia: that the oneness of humanity, the equality of women and men, and the elimination of all forms of prejudice was not only achievable, but also inevitable.
The Dawn Initiative aims to create a space for composers from all over the world to reflect on the theme "Celebration of the Oneness of Humankind" through the lens of their personal experiences, stories and cultural backgrounds. A diverse jury panel including Christos Hatzis, Norbert Palej, and Alheli Pimienta will select up to six compositions from the submissions to be performed at the Toronto Centre for the Arts on November 23, 2019.
The concert project is planned to coincide with the bicentenary of the birth of The Báb in 2019 following many events and celebrations that were held around the world during 2017 for the bicentenary of the birth of Baha’u’llah.
